Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

WHAT IS EFT TAPPING?

Also called acupuncture without needles, EFT is an effective method to access the energy body through tapping on the acupuncture points for psychological and physical healing. EFT can be used as a self-help tool, or done with a qualified practitioner.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET RESULTS?

That depends on the goal. At times, a quick result can be gotten. These are referred to as ‘one minute miracles’. However, the norm is to work on something for one or more sessions. The root of the problem needs to be tapped on as well as all its aspects. This can take several sessions for a more complex issue, such as weight loss.

DO PEOPLE ALWAYS GET GOOD RESULTS?

Sometimes people say that they have done tapping with someone, and didn’t notice any difference. This is because the person facilitating the tapping was not certified, and did not have the training or understanding needed to do a good job. When done with a qualified practitioner, results are always noticed.

Hypnosis

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis is a relaxed state or condition in which the client becomes highly responsive to suggestions of a positive nature. Memory and awareness of self can be altered by the suggestions given. All the effects may be extended post-hypnotically.

The effects may include: changing a habit pattern, improving performance, releasing attachment to past traumas and emotionally upsetting experiences, gaining confidence to achieve a goal, and overcoming a fear.

CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTIZED?

Just about anyone can be hypnotized. If a person has severe mental illness or a very low IQ it might be problematic. The more motivated the person is, the more they are able to relax and engage their intelligence and creativity, the more effective the session will be.

WILL THE HYPNOTIST BE ABLE TO CONTROL MY MIND?

No, the person being hypnotized is always in control. They will decide what suggestions they accept or reject, and will never do anything that goes against their moral judgement. Nor will they reveal a secret when in trance, unless they wish to.

HOW IS HYPNOSIS DIFFERENT THAN MEDITATION?

Both engage a state of relaxation to go deeper. But hypnosis is done to help the client achieve a goal. Suggestions and other hypnotic work are done to achieve this end. In meditation, the goal is to achieve a quiet, calm, and serene state of mind. This is accomplished by regularly meditating and releasing the contents of the unconscious mind until nothing is left.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)

  1. WHAT IS NLP?

Neurolinguistic Programming is a system for helping you reach your highest potential, and reframe past events so they no longer bother or block you. Subjective experiences can be broken down into smaller components, so that they can be changed, modified, improved upon, or removed.

NLP is a practical application of how people think. Language patterns are modified, as these patterns indicate a person’s mental state and self-talks. Neurological patterns are also modified so that we can rewire ourselves for a more successful goal outcome.

WHAT IS NLP USEFUL FOR?

NLP can be used for improving/enriching our personal lives, enhancing performance (i.e., sports), or in the business world for such things as building rapport with clients and increasing sales.

In the personal realm, people use it for many things, including but not limited to:

Improving relationships, getting over fears, changing habit patterns, neutralizing feelings around past trauma, building self-confidence, gaining motivation to do something helpful, and engaging all available resources to solve a problem.

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF?

Think of the weight loss challenge like an iceberg. The extra weight and foods are the tip of the iceberg. Under water are all the factors that drive someone to eat poorly and then regret it. These factors include things like: traumas from childhood, not feeling safe, habits acquired from the family, life stressors, and the need for reward. Emotional eating and poor habit patterns need to be addressed and all the blockers released. Then it becomes easy to naturally eat what your body needs for good health.

WHAT IS ONE THING I CAN DO TO START LOSING WEIGHT?

A great starting point is to make eating your sole activity. That means when you eat, you are totally paying attention to the food — the flavors, colors, smells, textures. Plus you will more easily be able to chew your food well.

This means when eating, not being on the phone, watching TV, checking emails, working, driving, reading, etc. It’s very hard for people to do at first. They feel like they are wasting time. But really, they are investing in good health and enjoying food way more.

Yoga Therapy

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

Yoga therapy is a method to use all the practices of yoga to improve your physical and/or mental health, reduce stress in your life, and attain  higher states of consciousness.

Many people think of the asanas (physical postures) when they think of yoga. Asana is very helpful, but other practices take us much deeper. These include relaxation, breath work, meditation, mantra practice, and the study of yoga philosophy and psychology.

IF I WERE GOING TO START WITH ONE PRACTICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Breath work is central to all aspects of yoga. Plus attending to your breathing is the quickest way to balance your nervous system. So this would be the best starting point.
